Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to lead their product research and development efforts. As the Product R&D Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the current offerings and pioneering exciting new products. This position offers the opportunity to be part of their management team, reporting directly to the President and CFO.

Responsibilities:

Existing Products:

  • Evaluate and enhance their current product mix, identifying opportunities for improvement, expansion, or discontinuation.
  • Collaborate with customer experience and retail teams to gather feedback and insights for product enhancements.
  • Analyse product margins, sales performance, and competitive landscape to inform pricing strategies.

New Products:

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive stage gate process for new product development, from conception to launch.
  • Stay abreast of market trends to drive product ideation and strategy.
  • Work closely with the supply chain to ensure cost-effective sourcing while upholding quality standards.
  • Align product development with their mission, balancing sustainability, and functionality.

General:

  • Ensure compliance with labelling and packaging requirements.
  • Utilize sales data to inform decisions regarding both existing and new products.
  • Maintain development timelines and facilitate cross-departmental communication.
  • Establish effective feedback mechanisms for customers, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate understanding of beauty and food product industries.

Qualifications

They're looking for candidates who possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in CPG product development.
  • Proven track record of managing and launching new products.
  • Familiarity with research and development protocols and regulations.
  • Experience in vendor management and cost-effective component sourcing.
  • Proficiency in modern software and project management tools.
  • Excellent presentation and time management skills.
  • Quick learner with a knack for innovation and creativity.
