Location: Decatur, GA
Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
Job Overview:
The Inventory Optimization Manager is responsible for modelling and standardizing inventory process workflows across the organization to maximize efficiency and profitability.
This role acts as a forensic analyst-identifying patterns that lead to profit loss from out-of-dates, damages, labor inefficiencies, and excessive handling. The position oversees multi-unit inventory management across multiple facilities and partners with vendors to improve delivery sequences, reduce food waste, and strengthen overall profitability.
Key Requirements for this role:
- Design and implement standardized inventory contingency plans and workflows across divisions.
- Lead operational and inventory forensics to uncover inefficiencies and drive corrective actions.
- Oversee specialized inventory programs, including distressed sales, food bank donations, and e-commerce channels.
- Manage multi-unit inventory planning and coordination to ensure alignment and accuracy across locations.
- Develop and deliver collaborative data visualizations for internal and external inventory stakeholders.
- Create and execute strategies to minimize handling, extend product shelf life, and reduce waste.
- Establish objectives, strategies, and tactical plans for divisional inventory control teams.
- Continuously review and improve tote and pallet configurations to optimize space and efficiency.
- Strengthen operating policies and hold vendors accountable for agreed standards.
- Utilize inventory management (ERP/WMS) systems; analyze inventory metrics/KPIs (turnover, accuracy, lead times, carrying cost) and present reports to senior management.
Skills & Competencies:
- Self-motivated and results-driven with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration across departments and vendors.
- Solid product knowledge and understanding of perishable supply chain dynamics.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or a related field.
- Proven success in problem solving, process improvement, and people management.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with statistical modelling and machine learning algorithms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for managing and analysing large datasets.
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with inventory systems / ERP / WMS / data tools.
