Chemical Manufacturing Lab Director
Our client a leading chemical manufacturing company committed to delivering high-quality products that meet stringent quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. The team is dedicated to continuous improvement, safety, and excellence in every aspect of our operations. They are currently seeking a talented Chemical Manufacturing Lab Director to join the team and lead their quality assurance efforts.
Responsibilities: In this role, you'll be the driving force behind their chemical plant's day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Laboratory Management: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the chemical plant laboratory, ensuring the smooth and efficient testing of raw materials, components, labelling, and finished goods.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of 3 chemists and 3 quality assurance teammates, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure a high-performing team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Possess a deep understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reporting, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to ensure compliance.
- Project Management: Initiate projects aimed at increasing output and operational efficiencies within the laboratory, collaborating closely with manufacturing and safety teams.
- Analytical Testing: Oversee daily testing activities, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC), as well as wet chemistry tests on various samples, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Process Improvement: Research, design, and develop new production processes to expedite sample processing within the lab, working closely with formulation chemists.
- Safety and Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to enhance safety protocols and safety training programs, maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the integrity of our quality assurance program, satisfying customer requirements, and protecting our company from liability.
- Strategic Planning: Design, propose, implement, review, and adjust plans to align with company goals, and assist in budget development.
- Cost Optimization: Implement cost reduction and productivity improvement measures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Culture of Excellence: Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the quality control team and the organization.
Qualifications We're looking for candidates who possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
- Experience in chemical manufacturing environment is required along with experience manufacturing processes, operations and continuous improvement
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Management.
- Ability to respond to complaints from customers and regulatory agencies required.
- Ability to lead multiple projects and work optimally across organization to complete projects on time and in budget
- Strong organizational, problem solving and planning skills
- Must have HPLC and GC experience
- Prefer knowledge of ChemStation software
- Prefer 4 years of experience in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulated lab
